About Warcraft Chicks

WarcraftChicks.com dedicated to acknowledging and increasing the awareness about the girl gamers and women gamers that play World of Warcraft. Both females and males are welcome to become members of our community, all opinions are welcome although do not reflect the views of the site owner or staff.  Please be aware that the point of this website is to have a safe environment where girl gamers can chat freely so harassment on any level will not be tolerated.

What this site is not:

1) A pr0n site
2) A male bashing site

What it is:

1) A place for females & males to express their opinions on how female World of Warcraft players are treated.
2) A move towards equality in all of Warcraft. Its one thing to deny someone because they are a bad player or a bad person. Its another to deny them simply because of their gender
3) A place that I hope can change some of the sterotypes associated with female gamers.

Who am I:

SugarChick - a Mug'thol Horde player that enjoys playing World of Warcraft. I am a wife, a mother & a gamer of over 10 years. I've been playing games online since 2001 when I picked up my first FPS(First Person Shooter). What drew me to online gaming was a compilation of things - the real time/real person competition, that although I was sitting at home by myself I was surrounded by friends, and how each time I got on the experience would change.

This isn't the first time I've stepped up and said 'hey lets do something to change things'. While playing that first game online myself and girl gamer friends of mine started to encounter sterotypes and harassment like I had never experenced before - online or offline. From being called names, followed around, harassed on forums, meeting the occasional pervert I finally put my foot down and said something needs to be done. So I created a site similar to this and went from there, it ran its course until the games fizzled out and at the end I was happy and proud to look back and see how other peoples views & attitudes towards those female gamers changed.

I never thought the issue would disappear of discrimation & stereotypes against female gamers but I myself have had such low key experiences in my World of Warcraft experience that I thought it would never be a problem. After seeing articles about guilds excluding female gamers & seeing multiple posts & complaints on the issue I feel its my time to once again step up and set the record straight.

Although I am all for disallowing people into guilds due to their gear, inability to play, lack of skills...I could never see justifying excluding someone simply because of their gender. Its no different then excluding someone because of their race, religion or sexual preferance.

Whether 1 person visits or none I hope that at least one persons view of female gamers, specifically World of Warcraft players changes to a positive and inviting one.
