Moderation(or lack there of) the World of Warcraft
Forums
World
of Warcraft Forums
Warning some of the content
on this page may not be suitable for children
The World of Warcraft Forums need to have moderators 24/7. Enough
is enough. If you agree please contact Blizzard Entertainment with the
information at the end of this article. Better censorship, having age
requirements to view the forums, etc. are also options but the easiest
and most rational course of action would be simply to hire someone to
moderate the forums during non-business hours.
Week after week, especially on maintenance days, the World of Warcraft
forums get bombarded with trash. And by trash I mean think
of the most disgusting racist, perverted, sexist remarks/comments/conversations
and you are going to find a post about it on the forums.
Some of the content posted below has been copied from other people's posts/replies,
those are not the words/thoughts of Warcraft Chicks or SugarChick.
What is the issue?
I know that there are sexist, racist pervs out there. I know that people
are going to make offensive posts.
What I don't understand is how Blizzard can sit by and allow people to
post inappropriate conduct - and not have it handled in an appropriate
amount of time or have proper censors put in place. For example:
"Anyone
seen their dad's c*ck erect? " - except "c*ck"
is the full uncensored word. it was posted at 06:04:50 AM EST
- it is now 11:02 AM EST. And yes, I 'reported' all of the
posts discussed.
Why is the word c*ck not censored exactly like that?
Some replies:
" i seen my dads c*ck when i was really young. it was massive
and he had huge balls. i think that was what turned me gay, and i still
fap to the memory of it."
"OP: No. I haven't. Your dad saw my c*ck erect. When I pulled it
out of your mother's rear and spammed man-juice on her face. F*cker."
The more disturbing issue
There are no moderators! Wait - there are moderators, its just that if
its before 8AM PST there is no one moderating the forums.
Crepe(green):
Sugarchick, the forums are not moderated 24/7. An hour is irrelevant
when there are no people here to monitor the boards.
If you would like them to moderated more thoroughly
(I would frequently), you can post on the suggestion forum and write to
wowreportedpost@blizzard.com.
Please don't link to unsavory threads... it
only serves to propogate them. It does not get them moderated more quickly.
So I called Blizzard...
"Thank you for calling the Blizzard billing and accounts services
team. We are currently closed in observance of the holiday"
We do offer an automated support system....
And I posted...
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=4071471967&sid=1
(got deleted)
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=4071471995&sid=1
And I emailed...
I was browsing the forums and was appauled and completely disgusted
by the content of some of the posts made. I was told that nothing could
be done about the posts since the forums are not moderated 24/7.
What do I need to do in order to get the forums moderated 24/7?
As a non-logged in user, there is content that is not child friendly
- and there is no barrier to protect people from not seeing that content.
In addition the racist and perverted posts use certain words that there
is no reason that they shouldn't be censored.
I called today but since its Martin Luther King Day all I got was the
machine.
So I ask you in all honesty, what can I do to get Blizzard to hire moderators
for their forums so they are monitored 24/7?
Thanks
Andrea
Is censorship really that hard?
Are people still going to post the 'n' word with spaces between it -
sure - and that was the title of a post today that sat there for THREE
PAGES. But these are very common 'run arounds' that people do with
words - how difficult is it to get a master list of censored words/combinations?
Why is it that on Martin Luther King Day the racists come out of the woodwork,
post a bunch of disgusting racists posts - "Top Ten Facts about
Black Males 2008" (no it was not a positive post) and a post
titled the 'n' word with spaces between it. And it sits there for
a few hours!
