Default Quickhorn's Quick Questions

First of all, I have to admit that I love alliteration. I'll sometimes spend 3 or 4 minutes rewording a sentence to include as much alliteration as possible. This is difficult as my knowledge of known words is nowhere near the nexus I had nearly nine years ago. (7 that time).

What's really going on here?
This is what I like to call a "filler" article. Really, it's my introduction.

I'm Quickhorn. Hi! I prefer not to reveal my gender openly, because often I find that the impact my gender has on my conversations is greater than it should be. I run a guild on the Sentinels server named <Browncoats> while also attending a local university for a Gender Studies Major with a Computer Science Minor. I run a WoW DnD campaign on the weekends and enjoy nearly all media produced by Joss Whedon and the Buffy/Angel team of writers. I whole-heartedly support the writer's strike, and encourage anyone that can to become involved. Also, please watch Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Chuck and Pushing Daisies. Reward quality show with quality ratings.

Why am I here?
Ultimately, because you all are. I'm highly passionate about Video Games as social texts, when integrated with multiplayer, video games become a crucible for current socio-political world-views.

We're also raising a few generations (average gamer being 17-35) on this new media, but are still not willing to consider the social impact these games have on us as a society. How does the sexual-dimorphism of the World of Warcraft characters effect the self-esteem of female players that are already under more pressure to perform due to current female stereotypes.

How you gonna do all this?
These are all important issues that I'd like to touch on on a weekly basis. The format will be fairly unstructured and in many cases what I'll put down here will feel very much like a rant. Probably because I'm prone to ranting. Sometimes the articles will stray from World of Warcraft and will revolve around gaming in general, sometimes I'll even forgo any pretense of political/social commentary and stick specifically with current WoW awesomeness. Finally, sometimes I'll pick specifically on people here. This isn't because I don't like you, but simply because you might have hit a particular nerve of mine, or you hit a particular point in such a concise way that I'll honor you. Don't be embarrassed, and don't get angry, because ultimately I'm making you famous .

So I hope you all stick around for a while and maybe this whole discussion will expand into new markets. Can anyone say podcasts?! In the mean time, check out the awesome new WoW TV Commercials.
